ZANTEL LAUNCHES MOBILE APP TO SUPPORT LOCAL AND FOREIGN TOURISTS IN TANZANIA "Credit News 24"
- The app is meant to help users find key detailed information about Hotels, Restaurants, Transportation, Attraction Sites, Clubs, Casinos, Shopping Malls, Embassies and Hospitals.
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Tanzania’s data market leader Zantel, has today launched a mobile application dubbed ‘Discover Tanzania mobile App’ with the aim of assisting local and foreign tourists to have proper information of the tourist attraction centers that are found in Tanzania.
The App which provides key detailed information on various destinations in Tanzania, Hotels, Restaurants, Transportation, Attraction Sites, Clubs, Casinos, Shopping Malls, Embassies and Hospitals will be available on Google Play Store at a low cost of Sh. 500.
Announcing the launch in Dar es Salaam today, Zantel’s head of Marketing, Gasper Mbowa said, “We are extremely excited to launch this app for our customers in Tanzania but most importantly being the first mobile company to do so in Tanzania. This app is very easy to use but also very affordable to all local and foreign tourists, whereby a 3 days package is only 500Tsh, a 7days package goes for 2000Tsh and for the whole month, customers will be charged only 3,000Tsh. He added that the short code for accessing the service via sms or voice for Zantel customers is 15582 where customers will be charged only 1Tsh per second.
He said Currently, in Tanzania information required by tourists in terms of attraction sites, types of food available, entertainment areas, costs for various services including accommodation, availability of reliable transport, locations for important offices such as embassies, hospitals services, etc. is rampant and this has continued to become a bottleneck in promoting tourism as well as decision making from the tourists point of view.
“It is our belief that this platform will promote tourism as reliable information will be provided to local and foreign tourists. We will also make sure that we enhance security to enable tourists to be linked directly with the service provider Zantel” he said.
He also added that the application, however, will be available on all android mobile phones as well as the IOS operating system for I-phones.
The tourism sector in Tanzania is an enormous engine of employment, since it directly employs 250,000 people every year.
According to the 2014 statistics from the Tanzania’s Ministry Of Natural Resources and Tourism, receipts from tourism arrivals reached USD 2 billion.
