TANTRADE TO REGULATE ZONAL TRADE EXHIBITIONS "Credit News 24"
A senior official with TANTRADE Ms Getrude Ng’weshemi said at Mwanza East Africa Trade Fair (MEATF), that setting standards for the zonal trade fair that are also attracting international exhibitors was a crucial move now set for serious implementation.
She said the MEATF which has been held for the past 11 years as one of the trade shows that are growing very fast but in need of some improvement to attract more international partners.
“We are now embarking on regulating these trade fairs to make sure they are well promoted to accommodate more local and inter national exhibitors to win more business connections,” she said.
She commended Tanzania Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (TCCIA) Mwanza branch for organising the annual show but that something was to be done to make the event more attractive to international businesses.
Ms Ng’weshemi who also deals with External Markets emphasized the need for TCCIA to develop strategies to promote the event. Since MEATF attract exhibitors from the neighboring countries, it was necessary to relook on areas like arrangements of pavilions to avoid unnecessary mix up of products on display.
She said from next year, TCCIA will be required to pay 2m/- regulatory fee to qualify for some consultancy services on trade fair preparations.
Meanwhile, the Mwanza based business entities have been challenged to participate in the Burundi Trade Forum which is set for September 27 to October 1 this year.
According to Ms Ng’weshemi, the Bujumbura Trade Expo was one of the issues that featured in the discussion between President John Magufuli and President Piere Nkurunzinza of Burundi when they met in Ngara District recently.
She said the Forum will be a special opportunity for Tanzanian business companies to seize various trade opportunities available in Burundi as well as establishing new networks. “That one will be a golden opportunity for the Mwanza based business entities due to their proximity with Burundi.
The expo will involve a number of products ranging from Agro-processing to Petroleum and Gas among others,” she said.
